Back in May 2014, Tel Aviv joined the coworking revolution when Mindspace launched in their neighbourhood. Meet Luke—City Lead, Mindspace London
We caught up with Luke Trusselle, City Lead for Mindspace London. He heads up the Mindspace team across both locations and works with each of the community managers to bring the Mindspace experience to life for its London members.
Hi Luke, thanks for chatting with us. For you, what makes Mindspace such a great place to work?
First and foremost, I’d say the people that make up the company, both locally and globally. We are striving to offer our members the best possible customer experience at all times and to that end, the team work tirelessly to provide that—this lays at the core of what makes us truly different. Secondly, I’d say our product is one of the very best. Of course, I’m biased, but that was one of the first things that attracted me to the company and I feel it’s a real privilege to work in one of the best offices in one of the best cities in the world.
Then there’s the workspaces themselves. We’re a premium brand and I think that’s reflected in the furniture and layout we provide—from the phone booths to meeting rooms to the offices, natural light, award-winning design and use of technology—it all adds up to give our members a happier, more productive working environment. The onsite teams work hard to create events and additional benefits that truly add value to our member’s experiences—this helps our members to attract and retain top talent, which is something that is very important in a competitive business environment like London. What brought Mindspace to London?
London is one of the greatest and culturally diverse cities in the world. It also has one of the most established and competitive serviced office and coworking markets globally and therefore it made sense to us to be there. We initially launched The Relay Building in Aldgate in the winter of 2017 and have since launched our second London location on the fringes of Shoreditch by Liverpool Street station in May 2018. Both with great success, which is a testament to the hard work of our London team.
Which is your favourite Mindspace in London?
I have a soft spot for Aldgate as that is where it all began in this country, but I have to say that my personal favourite is our flagship location at Appold Street, Shoreditch. This space is simply stunning. Right from the entrance to the building up through to our lounges on the 8th & 9th floors—it’s all about creating a great first impression. I often work from the 8th floor lounge just to capture the surprise and impressed faces that come through the door. The design and ambience of Appold Street is what we are trying to emulate as a company and it really is somewhere you would love to work. It has a great feel to it and I think we have perfected the balance between wanting the space to feel busy or full but also relaxed and not overcrowded. Simply put, it is a success story and we have a waiting list of potential clients wanting to base their business there. You can’t get a better compliment than that.
