With more businesses going hybrid, the team retreat has become a linchpin of company culture. It’s the one time when everyone comes together and gets to hang out in-person.

And because you’ll have enough on your plate to organise, we’ve taken care of finding 10 team retreat locations where you can host your next big team get-together.

Birch

Location: Cheshunt, UK.

If you’re looking for ‘corporate retreats near London’—you’ve found one. Just 30 minutes north of the city, Birch is an estate that’s practically built for group retreats. There’s coworking spaces, BBQ pits, a pottery studio, an arcade and even a lido.

They have plenty of room options in the Birch mansion and loads of space for larger teams. Sign us up!

“Birch gives you the time and freedom to pause, think, create, and savour. All so you feel energised and inspired, with new ideas and stories to tell.”

Villa La Quercia

Location: Chianti, Italy.

A cooking retreat in the hills of the Chianti countryside. Imagine

You and your team will be welcomed to a restored 17th-century farmhouse where you can enjoy cooking classes with Chef Veronica and her daughter Margherita, a trained Sommelier.

Once work in the kitchen is finished, there’s an aperitivo break, when you can take in the views of the surrounding vineyards and olive groves, before sitting down to the meal that you’ve all lovingly prepared.

The villa has four bedrooms, so it’s best for small teams. However, those staying outside of the villa are welcome to come for cooking classes (it’s just a short drive from bustling Florence).

Fun fact: This is the former workspace of famous abstract artist, Franceso Clemente. Veronica, your host and Chef, is his daughter.

Lary Steading & Farmhouse

Location: Aberdeenshire, UK

On almost every ‘team retreat’ list, you’ll find the fantastic Lary Steading & Farmhouse. Nestled in the rural surroundings of North-East Scotland, this is an incredibly popular choice (and for good reason).

For one, it can accommodate 20 people, which is a big plus. It’s also rural, but not too rural—the town of Ballater is all but four miles away if you need to quickly nip out for some tea bags. There are uninterrupted views of the Scottish scenery and inside, there’s a cosy, Scandi-vibe going on, complete with an open fireplace.

Whether you’re looking for some quiet team thinking-time, or somewhere to party (without worrying too much about the noise) this is the place to go. It’s truly a team retreat location like no other!

The Houseboat from FLOWN

Location: Hamworthy, UK

How about spending a ‘think week’ in an award-winning property with spanning coastal views? The Houseboat is a modern, open space that’s perfect for smaller teams to come together.

There are three double bedrooms and a kitchen that sits 12 (if there are some who aren’t staying over). You can even have all your meals cooked by FLOWN’s in-house chef.

FLOWN specialise in properties like these—ones that allow teams to sink into ‘deep work’ (that’s what they’re all about). The Houseboat is just one of many to choose from—become a member to browse them all.

Camping at Tough Mudder

Location: UK-wide.

Think your team would be up for a challenge? Tough Mudder is famous (and in some cases, infamous) for its team days. There will be mud. There will be water. And guaranteed, there will be loads of laughs.

They’ve announced that you can now camp at their Yorkshire, North West and North East events. Each site has facilities, BYOB and somewhere to cook. Plus, there’s a 24-hour team at hand if you need any help.

This is a great one for big teams and those looking for something unique to do together. You could even get sponsored to raise money for charity.

Soho Farmhouse

Location: Oxfordshire, UK.

If you’re stuck for a work retreat idea, Soho Farmhouse has got you covered.

From the team who brought you everyone’s favourite member’s club, Soho Farmhouse is an impressive retreat in the English countryside. There’s clay pigeon shooting, a lakeside pool, a cinema, tennis courts and more. Plus, plenty of corporate event venues.

Your team can stay in any of the cosy accommodation options such as the four-bedroom farm cottage, lakeside cabins or in the original Cotswold-stone farmhouse itself.

Just a head’s up, it’s open to members and friends of members only.

YON’s Global Network

Location: Earth.

“Organise your work around your life, not the other way round.”

That’s the vision behind YON—a collection of live-in coworking spaces around the world. Right now, they’re working to launch some of their spaces in 2022, but from their Instagram, you can get a sample of what’s on offer. Like this poolside haven in Morocco.

It has coworking spaces, Saturday surf lessons and local hosts to show you and your team around. Workations never looked so breezy.

Keep an eye out for their upcoming locations.

OUTSITE’s Global Network

Location: Earth.

Outsite is a community of coliving spaces for teams and remote workers. From Lisbon to Los Angeles, there are over 25 locations to choose from and options for groups of all sizes.

They can organise catering, activities and everything for you, if you’re after a more full-service approach, or they’ll simply point you in the right direction if you prefer to go DIY.

McGarry Ranch

Location: Idaho, USA.

Looking for a team retreat that’s really unique? How about saddling up on a real-life ranch? Yep, during your stay, you and your team will be experiencing the American Cowboy lifestyle—riding horses, herding cattle, fixing gates, the works!

After a long day of hands-on work, you can enjoy dinner in the mountains and sit around the fire pit, before heading off to your own log cabins. Yee-haw!

Folkschool

Location: Hebrides, UK.

Enjoy the idea of an activity-based, nature-filled group retreat, but don’t want to go all the way to Idaho? Folkschool’s got your back. Their popular kayak and canoe building weeks are an experience like no other.

You and your team learn how to craft boats using sustainably-sourced materials and then, at the end of the week, you row them around the beautiful Hebridean Islands. How cool does that sound? You can also work with their team to create a bespoke course for you.

On top of all these ideas, we’d recommend checking out Airbnb and Plum. They’ve got, arguably, the largest selection of experiences and stays across the world, so you’re bound to find some fantastic team retreat locations.
