Great food, networking opportunities and loads of flexible office options—it’s no wonder this hub of London’s tech city is right up businesses’ old street.

Old Street in three words

Bustling, tech-y and sociable.

What it’s like to work there—in a nutshell

Old Street has this infectious energy that’s like a constant charge of inspiration for you and your team. Plus, there are cool talks and events almost every night of the week.

The benefits of working in Old Street

It’s not called ‘Silicon Roundabout’ for nothing. When you base your business at Old Street, you’re in good company. Some of the most exciting tech businesses have set up their HQs around what is now known as ‘East London Tech City’ and brought the spotlight with them. You never know who you could meet in the queue for your morning macchiato.

Old Street building

Just as Old Street is well-connected in the networking sense, it’s also well-connected for transport. You have Old Street station and Shoreditch High Street station just a short walk away and plenty of buses on route, which makes it really easy for your team to commute. More travel options, less travel time.

That is, if they actually want to leave Old Street, of course. If you’re big on company culture, Old Street has it all—amazing lunch spots, places to go, experiences to have. There’s so much variety in this one postcode.

The best places in Old Street for team lunch

Ozone Coffee Roasters Café

If you’re looking for one of those healthy-and-delicious-but-still-feels-like-a-treat lunches for your team, Ozone Coffee Roasters Café’s got you covered. They’re all about sustainability, maximising health and keeping your gut happy—which sounds like everything we need from a mid-week team catch-up. Plus, there are loads of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options on their menu.

Whitecross Street Market

Open every weekday from 10am-5pm, Whitecross Street Market is perfect for those sunny, walk-and-talk lunches. From Brazilian to Vietnamese (make sure you try Yum Bowl) their street food offering is sure to become a team favourite.

Homeslice Pizza

Some celebrations just call for pizza. Homeslice serve up fresh, seasonal toppings on stonebaked 20” pizza, whole or by the slice. Whether you want to sit in or take-away, they have flavourful options for everyone (yes, even your resident vegans.)

The Nightjar

There are speakeasies and then, there’s Nightjar. Behind an unmarked door on an unsuspecting street, you’ll head downstairs to a prohibition-era bar, with live jazz, art deco interiors and cocktails inspired by the era. It’s open all night until 3:30am, so your team can charleston the night away.

Old Street Records

A multi-storey warehouse that’s covered in vintage posters and practically vibrating with soul, funk, hip-hop and indie music—Old St Records always feels like a party. Happy hour is technically three hours from 5pm-8pm and they have plenty of food and drinks to go around. If your team want a one-stop-bar-hop, this is the place.

Lounge Bohemia

A Czech-inspired, retro speakeasy underneath a kebab shop—that’s enough to pique our interest. To make it even more exciting, Lounge Bohemia’s cocktail menu is centered around molecular mixology, so expect the unexpected, like Bellini-flavoured gummy bears, bubbles, smoke and vapour. Plus, end-of-the-night feasts are straight upstairs.

The best places near Old Street for team activities

London Shuffle Club

Anyone for a game of shuffleboard? This warehouse venue has taken one of the oldest games in the UK and renewed it for the 21st century (complete with bars, music and the UK’s first outdoor shuffle terrace.) You can rent the full floor for your team, or get shuffling in the buzzy atmosphere.

Rooftop Film Club

When the nights get warmer, head upstairs at the Queen of Hoxton to find the Rooftop Film Club—a sky-high cinema above the busy streets of east London. Your team can grab a seat and rewatch cult classics, with popcorn in one hand, a cocktail in the other and the backdrop of London’s sunset-tinted skyline.

Plonk Crazy Golf

A neon-lit crazy golf course, that you can hire for your whole team to compete for the title of ‘Plonk Champion’. BYOB, nine holes and a sound system to play your own music (if you like), it’s a fun team activity to get the night going.
