But if Clerkenwell’s the place, here’s why you should base your office there!
Clerkenwell has been named as one of the best places to live in London and we’re hyping it up even further as one of the best places to work. Here’s why…
Clerkenwell in three words
Buzzy, creative and convenient.
What it’s like to work there—in a nutshell
Clerkenwell has all the profile of the city centre, with added cool points that help to make company culture magic happen.
The benefits of working in Clerkenwell
First of all, Clerkenwell is really central—you can walk into the city, or to the financial centre if you like, or hop on any nearby tube stations like Farringdon, Barbican, Old Street, Angel and King’s Cross.
It’s also full of designers and branding agencies, so if you need a visual style for your business or a great idea to launch your next campaign, you’re in the right area.
Lastly, it’s bursting with great places to eat and hang out, whether you’re impressing a client or celebrating a win with the team.

Kin Street Food
“Meaning ‘eat’ in Thai, KIN is passionate about street food and serves up simple, quick, tasty and authentic dishes from across Asia from Thailand to Vietnam to Japan to China.”
Here’s the thing about KIN, your nose will find it before you do. It’s quick, fresh, delicious and doesn’t leave your team with that post-pizza afternoon slump. Trust us, they’ll love it.
Breddos Tacos
Breddos started in a makeshift taco shack in a Hackney car park back in 2011, then made its way to LA’s Tacolandia festival and returned to find a permanent home right here in Clerkenwell. Safe to say, a flight to LA and back is worth the journey for their road-trip-inspired menu, but luckily, if you’re here in Clerkenwell, your team only needs to walk a few minutes.
Exmouth Market
Right on your doorstep, you have Exmouth Market, which is home to some serious contenders for a lunchtime trip. Check out Paesan for Italian, or Berber & Q—a laid-back shawarma bar with big, communal tables and street food that transports you to Tel Aviv.
Also, make sure to swing by Morito, their tapas menu has something for everyone.
The best places in Clerkenwell for after-work drinks
Fare
Sitting in the Morelands building (a renovated cluster of mid-century warehouses in Clerkenwell) you’ll find Fare—a multi-storey venue that’s all coffee by day, cocktails by night (with over 250 variations of wine.) It closes at around 10pm on a Friday, so, although it’s not the place to party the night away, make sure you and your team swing by for one.
Bounce
Drinks, music and…ping pong. Add a splash of friendly competition, you’ve got all the components you need for a great work night out. Bounce is technically in Farringdon, but it’s just a short walk away.
Vinoteca
In their own words, Vinoteca is the place to go for wine and food, friends and conversation. It’s one of the best wine bars in the city and a good place to go if you want just enough noise to have an atmosphere, but not too much that your team and clients can’t have a conversation.
The best places in Clerkenwell for team activities
Novelty Automation
You won’t find Street Fighter in this arcade, instead, it’s full of obscure, homemade amusements and games for your team to try. The founder and inventor of the machines, Tim, describes Novelty Automation as ‘a mix of humour and engineering’—we see it as a place to inspire your team to unleash their creativity and experience something they’ll be talking about in the pub for a long time.
All Star Lanes
Another one for some friendly competition—did someone say ten pin bowling? With All Star Lanes, you don’t need a time machine for those retro Americana vibes, just take a short walk to Holborn and let the good times (literally) roll.
Clerkenwell Design Week
Clerkenwell is so creative, it has an entire festival dedicated to it. Happening once a year, Clerkenwell Design Week is perfect for design and marketing teams (or any teams, really) who want a boost of inspiration. With great speakers, workshops and events, they’ll finish the week with a head full of new ideas.
Businesses based in Clerkenwell
Clerkenwell’s home to the iconic Barbican Centre, a world-class arts and learning hub for dance, music, theatre, film and visual arts.
Big on design, you’ll also find award-winning agencies like Ragged Edge and online print and design company, Moo.
