Two thirds of employees rarely or never worked from somewhere other than home or the office, and only 22% did so more than once a month.

The most common place to work other than home was a cafe (44%), but a significant number (35%) said that they worked whilst commuting.

When respondents did go to the office, the most common commute time was between 30 and 60 minutes. 19% travelled over an hour each way, and 3% over 2 hours.

All in all, the majority feel that their companies are reasonably or very equipped to continue remote working into the future.

75% would like the ability to use a meeting room with varying degrees of regularity, but most on an ad-hoc basis.

Of the benefits that would most improve WFH for employees, an ergonomic chair was by far the most popular item, followed by a dual monitor, then faster wifi.

When in the office

In the overall results, 70% still want their company to have an office, primarily for team culture, collaboration, meetings, and team socials.

65% would be happy to hot desk, but the biggest concerns centred around hygiene reasons (41%), having a preferred routine (39%), and equipment that is difficult or a pain to move (38%).

41% would be prepared to rotate usage of their office with another company, but 25% would not be happy to do so and 11% don't know.

The main concerns were that both companies may need the space at the same time (54%), confidentiality (51%), cleanliness (50%), and security of personal belongings (48%).

Still have structure, maybe a rota of people in the office and at home. It would also be good for the team to meet in the office or other location once a week or twice a month.

I've learnt how important it is to collaborate with your team and to be around the people that you work with. I think it's so essential for maintaining team motivation and morale and I think having a shared physical space is the key to this. In an ideal world, we would have a flexible office space with a flexible attitude towards working from home to match.
